Why not just call it Aqueduct? I don't care if it's the Belmont meet - they're racing at Aqueduct for crying out loud.
R1 - #8 A Royal Shin (6-1) I recently heard from an old-timer I respect that I should watch A Shin Forward as a sire, we'll see.
R2 - #2 Bronx Bomber (9-5) Five lifetime wins - all here at the Big A. Zero for 20 everywhere else.
R3 - #8 Steady On (12-1) You gotta be some kind of moron to try and beat Chad Brown's pair of monsters in here. Call me that moron.
R4 - #6 Dark Storm (6-1) Was bet down late at Saratoga last month at this same level and was victim to a poorly timed ride by McCarthy. Gets a slight jockey upgrade today and will have the pace to suit his closing style.
R5 - #7 BC Glory Days (12-1) Looked to be headed to the glue factory based on the recent string of efforts at the Spa, but owns some back-class and should be competitive against this underwhelming field at a price that could drift over 20-1.
R6 - #8 Candy Strike (6-1) The favorite (#3 Padma) could make a mockery of this race, but in the event she falters, which is always possible with babies, I like a lot about Candy Strike - connections solid, dam has dropped a stakes winner, steady work history, gets a good post, and pedigree says "win early".
R7 - #2 Nostalgic (12-1) I don't care that she flopped in her only turf try. She's bred for grass and has been facing Grade 1 fillies all summer on dirt. Three works on the Saratoga turf track for Mott leading up to this start add to the appeal for me. A big run wouldn't be a surprise.
R8 - #4 Phantom Smoke (7-2) Tough race to get a read on. Settled here because of pace scenario - I just think he has the best tactical speed and a smart turf rider in Prat.
R9 - #7 Expressman (2-5) Easy peasy.
R10 - #6 Ardakan (4-1) I don't know much about those German and Italian stakes races, but in seven starts, this guy has never been more than 3 lengths from the lead. He won't be favored, and he'll give me a thrill at the wire for sure.
R11 - #4 Shinful (9-2) Wide open maiden sprint, so why not go with Irad and another A Shin Forward offspring as bookends today.
